Will it ring?
Your phone decides whether a call makes a sound. Two minutes of setup makes sure ours does, even on Silent or in a Focus.
1. Save our number
Calls come from a few numbers, depending on where you are, so the contact card carries all of them. Download it and add it to your contacts.
2. Let it through
iPhone
- Open the Call Me Awake contact you just saved → Ringtone → turn on Emergency Bypass. This lets our call ring even when your phone is on Silent or in a Focus.
- Settings → Focus → Sleep → People → Allow Calls From → add Call Me Awake. Leave Allow Repeated Calls on (our second try comes two minutes later for exactly this reason).
- Keep Silence Unknown Callers on if you like; we're a saved contact now.
Android
- Open the Call Me Awake contact → tap the star (Favorite).
- Settings → Sound → Do Not Disturb → People → Calls → Starred contacts. Keep Allow repeat callers on.
- If you use Bedtime mode, set the same exceptions there.
3. Test it
In the app or on the web, choose "Call me now" and press 1 when it rings. If it doesn't ring, or rings silently, repeat step 2 for your phone.
Why do I need this?
Your phone decides whether a call rings, and we can't see its settings. Silent mode, Focus and Do Not Disturb silence calls from anyone who isn't allowed through. Saving our number and allowing it is what lets a real phone call wake you, which is why the test call matters.
We can't see your phone's settings, so we can't promise a call will ring until you've tested it. That's what the test call is for.
